Former Android executive and advisor to blockchain, ai, and other future-tech startups will lead global marketing efforts and help grow the Algorand developer community.

SINGAPORE, March 20, 2024 – The Algorand Foundation, whose mission is to empower a dynamic, inclusive, and borderless global ecosystem–at scale–based on the Algorand blockchain technology, today announced the appointment of Marc Vanlerberghe as Chief Marketing Officer.

Marc made his name at Google launching and building the Android brand and developer ecosystem, growing it to billions of users. He has over 20 years of executive marketing experience. More recently he was the CMO at Medallia, a leader in Customer Experience Software, and CEO of Rulai, an early stage AI company. He also serves as an advisor to several companies in the B2C and B2B technology space, and has been an LP and global expert with the Blockchain Founders Fund for the past two years.

“This is an important year for Algorand, one in which we expect to see meaningful, sustained growth in both users and developers,” said Staci Warden, CEO of the Algorand Foundation. “Having an experienced, strategic leader like Marc at the helm of our marketing efforts is going to be pivotal to ensuring Algorand‘s technology, developer experience, and the many proven use cases in this ecosystem get the recognition they deserve.”

Marc will lead the Algorand Foundation’s global marketing efforts, overseeing teams working in communications, brand, content, campaigns, social media, and events.

“It’s an exciting time to join the Algorand Foundation,“ said Marc. “The Algorand blockchain has been the fastest, most reliable, and scalable protocol, and with next week’s Python launch it is also now the easiest way for developers to enter the blockchain world. I look forward to engaging and working with the ecosystem to bring their ideas and vision to life, and generate real value for people around the world.”

This appointment follows the release of Algorand’s 2024 technical roadmap, which outlines meaningful changes coming to the protocol this year including the incentivization of consensus (expected in Q3 2024) and the launch of Python as a native programming language, due to be released next week, on March 27, 2024.
